In a neighborhood built to catch your eye, a little verification goes a long way.

Times Square is fluent in signs. Signs sell tickets, dinner, souvenirs, and the promise that whatever you need is just inside. When you are buying cannabis, that visual confidence is only the beginning of the question.

Our approach starts with an address. Before comparing branding or deciding which storefront feels most convincing, match the place you intend to visit to an official source.

A bright storefront can tell you where a shop is. It cannot tell you whether the business is licensed to sell adult-use cannabis.

Start with the state’s list

Find the business in the New York Office of Cannabis Management dispensary list. Match the address as well as the name. The state also links to its Buy Legal Map.

Check the entrance

OCM says regulated, licensed dispensaries must post its Dispensary Verification Tool near their main entrance. Use the official source to check the shop rather than relying on storefront branding.

A missing result needs another check

Names and locations can change. A failed search alone is not proof that a business is unlicensed. Confirm details with OCM before making a decision.

Our directory is a starting point. Opening hours, inventory, and current status should be confirmed with official sources and the shop before you travel.

Keep the useful details together

Save the address, the shop’s own website, and your route before you leave. Confirm hours directly rather than assuming a directory has today’s answer. If a detail doesn’t match, pause and ask instead of filling the gap with a guess.

CITS is building a directory to make that first check easier. It is not a seal of approval for every product, a substitute for official records, or a claim that we have personally visited each shop.
